John David Rupp

november 2, 1977 – january 1, 2026

John David Rupp

John David Rupp, age 48, passed away on January 1, 2026. David was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Rodney and Jane Rupp. David was a beloved and cherished son, brother, uncle, and great uncle.

David leaves behind a family that adored him deeply. He is survived by his mother Jane Rupp. Siblings; Michael Eric (Leslie) Rupp, Christopher (Amy) Rupp, and Lisa (Darren) Lucas. Nephews and Nieces; Justin Rupp, Lindsey Rupp, Daphne (Christian) Hedger, Chloe (Cameron) Burns, Joshua (Rachel) Lucas, Emma Lucas, and Isabella Lucas. Great-nephews; Jeremiah, Elias, Elijah, Coleman, Derrick, Emery, and Isaac. He is also survived by extended relatives and friends. David was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents who we know have welcomed him with open arms.

David’s life was one of joy, unconditional love, and resilience. His angelic smile lit up every room. His sweet spirit taught those around him the beauty of patience, acceptance, humility, kindness, and finding happiness in simple things. He loved birthday parties and holiday celebrations. His favorite foods included 5-ways at Skyline and Graeter’s ice-cream cake.

David loved music and had a connection to music that affected him deeply. He grew up surrounded by a family of musicians, and he loved listening to his grandparents, parents, and siblings sing and play instruments. He favored marches written in particular by John Philip Sousa, especially “Stars and Stripes Forever.” He was a devoted fan of patriotic tunes such as “God Bless America,” “America the Beautiful,” and “The Star-Spangled Banner.” At Christmastime, stirring renditions of “O Holy Night” would bring tears to his eyes.

David found enjoyment being outside in nature. He liked taking walks and watching the wind blow- especially if he was holding a balloon. He was an unofficial weatherman, keeping his eye on the sky for signs of days filled with sunshine, wind, rain, or thunder. He loved riding roller coasters and attending band concerts. He looked forward to vacations at the beach, and one of his favorite places to visit was Walt Disney World where his love for food, roller coasters, and music could all be found in one place.

David was a friend to everyone, and he always had a big smile and exuberant hug to offer. He will be missed dearly. His beautiful light will shine on in our hearts forever. He truly was an angel among us.

Visitation for David will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231 (follow the blue line upon entering the memorial park).
