JOHN S. SCHWAB, 85, of Sidney, passed away at 7:20 P.M. Monday, September 2, 2024 at Brookdale Troy. He was born on March 20, 1939 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of the late John W. and Harriett C. (Kuhlman) Schwab.

On July 2, 1960 he married the former Sue A. Westover, who survives along with their four children, Vicki Schwab of Columbus, OH, Sheri (Mark) Ross of Knoxville, TN, Michael (Kathi) Schwab of Chaplin, CT, and Carey (Rob) Linton of Mt. Sterling, KY; 10 grandchildren, Justin (Alexandria), and Cory Searcy, Clay (Ashley), Drew (Jessica), Connor (Amanda), and Jillian (Eric Schumacher) Ross, Spencer, Bailey, Brady, and Gabbie Linton; and 3 great-grandchildren, Mason, Hunter, and Cooper Ross, and one great-granddaughter on the way. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alan and Jim Schwab; and one sister, Jaqueline Benight.

John was a veteran of the United States Army. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Cincinnati and continued pursuing education, taking various classes throughout his life. John worked for Wagner Manufacturing in Sidney for many years, first as an industrial engineer before being promoted to human resources manager. He later worked for the City of Sidney, also as a human resources manager. John was very active in IUTIS for many years. He was never shy about trying new things, even if that meant jumping out of an airplane in his 70s. John enjoyed listening to all types of music. He also enjoyed repairing car engines, working in his yard, and virtually anything that involved spending time outdoors. A graveside service will be held Friday, September 13, 2024 at 12 P.M. at Arlington Memorial Gardens in Mount Healthy, Ohio. The family will be receive guests at the cemetery from 11.A.M. until the time of service.  There will be a luncheon at Lake Nina immediately following. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in John’s memory. Condolences may be expressed to John’s family at, www.cromesfh.com
