Obituary for John Steven Koehler
John Steven Koehler, born on July 22, 1955, in Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, at the age of 69. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, whose warmth and humor touched the lives of many.
John worked as a Static Control Sales Representative at Simco, where he was respected not only for his professionalism but also for the friendships he forged with colleagues and clients alike. He took immense pride in his work, approaching each day with dedication and a spirit of collaboration.
For 45 beautiful years, John was married to his beloved wife, Janet Koehler. Together, they built a life rich with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. John was a proud father to his son, Steven (Jessica) Koehler, and his daughter, Jennifer (Randy) Cornell. He found joy and fulfillment in being a grandfather to his grandchildren, Jack and Kelly Koehler, who brought immense happiness to his life.
John had many passions that defined his personality. An avid golfer, he spent many weekends perfecting his swing on the greens. He also enjoyed the thrill of the casino and gathering with friends to play poker and share stories. A lover of scary movies and a fan of the Rolling Stones, John appreciated the joy that music and cinema brought to life. In quieter moments, he could be found enjoying the simple pleasure of relaxing with a cigar in the hot tub. John enjoyed taking family vacations to visit his sisters in Washington D.C and South Carolina.
John held his fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi, close to his heart, where he formed lifelong bonds and memories that he cherished deeply. His legacy is one of kindness and camaraderie. John was proud of his accomplishments as a husband, parent, and grandparent. Through his wisdom and support he provided a successful path for his children.
John is survived by his loving wife, Janet Koehler; his son Steven (Jessica) Koehler and daughter Jennifer (Randy) Cornell; his grandchildren Jack and Kelly; and his sisters Jackie (Bill) Dulworth and Jean (Kosmo) Tatalias.
John was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruth Koehler, and sister, Terry (Frank) Yoschak.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7th, 2025 from 11:00-11:30am at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Lakeside Mausoleum Chapel, 2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231 (Follow the RED Line). A memorial service will follow at 11:30am. Inurnment will take place at 12:00pm at the Arlington Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions in honor of John can be made to First Tee of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered, as his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

You are the best brother He could ever have loaned to me. Please be there to greet me in heaven when God calls me home.”

“WE MET JOHN AND JANET WHEN THEY VISITED AIKEN, SC WHERE HIS SISTER JACKIE KOHLER DULWORTH LIVED. WE ALWAYS ENJOYED SEEING THEM AND JERRY PLAYING GOLF WITH JOHN. THE KOHLERS – INCLUDING ALL MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY WERE ALWAYS WARM AND MADE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU KNEW THEM FOREVER . HE WILL BE MISSED BUT KNOW HE IS AT PEACE NOW AFTER A LOOOOOOOONG WAY TO BEING IN HOSPICE. HE WILL BE MISSED BY SO MANY INCLUDING US AND WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER JOHN AND THE TIMES WE GOT TO VISIT AIKEN. MAY THE FAMILY KNOW THAT HE WILL FINALLY BE AT PEACE. IT IS NEVER EASY TO LOSE A FAMILY MEMBER, JOHN WAS SPECIAL”

“We miss being Neighbors with John & Janet, the smell of John’s cigars in the morning when I would take out the trash was a delight. Some of the best neighbors ever and hope to be neighbors in Heaven with them both someday.”
