Juanita Hand

Juanita ‘Nita’ Hand Nee Evans, born December 2, 1927 passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025 surrounded by the love of family and friends. She was 97. Nita was many things in her life – a life long Girl Scout, avid boater, Coast Guard teacher, animal lover, lighthouse keeper, and a constant learner of new things. Her true gift was that she never had idle hands; Nita crocheted, knitted, sewed, and quilted thousands of items for other over her lifetime. She is survived by her 3 children: Nina (Ken), Phil (Barbara), and Walt (Karen), her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nita will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery with her late husband, Phil Hicks Hand.
