Kay Hereth

Kay Carolyn (Swafford) Hereth passed on December 16, 2024, gasping her last breath before yielding to interstitial lung disease induced by rheumatoid arthritis. Kay graduated from Colerain High School and earned both a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Education from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Her professional career spanned over forty years as a Speech/Hearing and Language Therapist and school volunteer.

Kay is survived by her devoted husband of over 64 years, Russell Hereth, her daughter Laura Kay (Bill) Koontz, Leah Jean (Brian) Bathe and son Mark Russell, also, two grandchildren Jason M. (Mackenzie) Koontz and Brooke M. Koontz, and was preceded in death by her brother Lance Corporal Kenneth Swafford and her brother-in-law Eugene L. Hereth.

Funeral arrangements are private and to be held at the convenience of family and friends. Contributions in Kay’s memory can be made to the Russell H. and Kay C. Hereth Endowed Scholarship Fund, Wright State University Foundation, 3460 Colonel Glenn Highway, Dayton, Ohio 45435, or charity of choice.
