LaVerne Lee Balzer

LaVerne Lee Balzer, beloved wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, cherished friend, and dedicated receptionist, passed away on December 15, 2023, at the age of 90.

Born on March 16, 1933, in Cincinnati, Ohio, LaVerne lived a life filled with kindness, her unique brand of humor, and unwavering dedication to her loved ones and community.


LaVerne’s journey began in Cincinnati, where she was raised and attended school, earning her High School Diploma. She wholeheartedly embraced her role as a receptionist in the healthcare industry, where she spent countless hours ensuring that patients and visitors were greeted with warmth and efficiency. LaVerne’s dedication to her work was inspiring, as she continued to serve others until her last days, touching the lives of countless individuals in her community who she knew by name.


Beyond her professional endeavors, LaVerne was an active member of the American Legion, where she found joy in contributing to their fundraising efforts. She was a familiar face at various events greeting them at the door.


While we mourn the passing of LaVerne, we also celebrate her life. Her loving relationship with her devoted spouse, Donald Balzer, brings back many memories to be celebrated by multiple generations. We will remember her love for her animal companions, especially her dog, Abby.


She is survived by three stepchildren, eight grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by many loyal friends and extended family members.


A Graveside Service will be held on January 5, 2024, at 2:00 PM (2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231) Family is to meet at 1:45 at Arlington Memorial Garden’s Family Gathering Area. A celebration of life reception will be held The Harrison Ohio American Legion (10700 Campbell Rd. Harrison, OH 45030) beginning at 3:30 PM, all friends and family are invited to the graveside and reception.


In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in LaVerne’s memory to The Harrison Ohio American Legion (10700 Campbell Rd. Harrison, OH 45030) or Hospice of Cincinnati (4360 Cooper Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45242)


LaVerne Lee Balzer will forever remain in the hearts and memories of those who loved her. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her legacy continue to inspire us to live a life of service.
