Linda K. Rocklin

Paul Young Funeral Home is assisting the Family

Obituary via Paul Young Funeral Home

Cincinnati – Linda K. Rocklin was the devoted mother of the late Kathleen E. “Katy” Rocklin. Linda passed away in her sleep at the Seasons on January 4, 2023, at the age of 73 years. Linda was born on November 22, 1949 and is survived by many groups of friends she had gathered through her life and the Rocklin family. Her first husband, Wayne died of cancer.  Her former husband, Larry, preceded her in death in 2009. Following graduation from Aiken High School in 1968 she attended the University of Cincinnati.  She worked at Cincinnati Insurance and then helped with the family’s logistic business and was a lifelong volunteer.
Linda lived and loved life, even among adversities, and embraced people wherever she went. (She could also be very stubborn.) Linda was fully involved in Katy’s life. She passionately pursued many hobbies.  Linda had a catering business from her home, refinished furniture and had an antique store, became a master gardener,  learned how to can, paint and created beautiful polymer clay items. She enjoyed cooking for others and opened her home often to friends. She LOVED her high heeled shoes, music and dancing and devoted hours to watching her Cincinnati Bengals and Reds, and police dramas. She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and also a member of the Northbend Yacht Club.

Linda and Larry’s only child and unborn granddaughter were killed by a drunk driver.  In their grief they founded Kate’s Cupboard where moms in need may receive baby items to keep their baby safe.  Linda gathered many volunteers at Trinity Lutheran church and obtained donations from anyone she met to fund Kate’s Cupboard.  Kate’s Cupboard has been in existence for nineteen years and has served over 2,100 moms.
Linda founded a second mission at Trinity in 2010.  A community garden: complete with water, 30 plots, and a shed is available to neighbors in the community and Trinity members. At Trinity, she was involved with many activities, including hosting a monthly Bible Study, coordinating refreshments for the blood drives, assisting with funeral luncheons and planning of the Prayer Garden. Sadly, Linda suffered a debilitating stroke over eight years ago.  Her only word was “ok” and it was amazing how much she could communicate with that one word.
You could tell she was known by all at the Seasons and brightened many peoples’ day.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 13th from 9:30 AM until time of the Funeral Service at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1553 Kinney Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45231. Interment to follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens. A luncheon will follow at the church as well as an invitation to see Kate’s Cupboard and the Community Garden she founded.
Memorial donations may be made to Kate’s Cupboard or the Community Garden through Trinity Lutheran Church, www.trinitycincy.org and click online giving.  Online condolences can be made at www.paulyoungfuneralhome.com.
