Louis S. Harrison

Louis S. Harrison, a 35-year resident of West Chester, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2023, at the age of 90.  He was born on 6/29/33 in Gallipolis, OH to the late Harry & Sadie Harrison.  He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  He was preceded in death by 3 wives Mary Louise Harrison, (nee Wessel 1958), Katherine Harrison (nee Krieg 1984) and May Harrison (nee Carnes 2010), his sister Eleanor Walters McLead, and his grandson Officer Timothy James Unwin.

After graduating from high school in 1951, Louis proudly enlisted to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps.  He served overseas during the Korean War where he demonstrated his unwavering dedication and bravery. In recognition of his service and sacrifice, he was awarded several commendations including the prestigious Purple Heart.

After his military service, he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and began working for Cincinnati Time Recorder where he met his second wife, Katherine.  They married in 1959 and together they had three children.

Louis leaves behind his son, Neil Harrison, daughters Dawn (Glenn) Unwin and Elaine (Tim) Ruhe.   He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Gregg Unwin, Kim (Ryan) Hicks, John (Heather) Ruhe, Faith (Caleb Goodwin) Ruhe, and great-grandchildren Brayden and Braxden Hicks, and Michael Ruhe.

Outside of work, Louis had a passion for growing fruits and vegetables.  He enjoyed tending his plants and trees.  He took great pride and pleasure in sharing the bounty of his harvest with his family and friends.  He was also known to feed the wildlife around his home.

Louis enjoyed staying informed and keeping himself up to date on current events. He loved Fox News and always had an opinion to share.  He often engaged in thoughtful and many times spirited discussions about current events with those around him.

To honor the memory and celebrate the life of Louis S. Harrison, a funeral service will be held on November 11, 2023, at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, located at 2145 Compton Road, Springfield Township, Ohio 45231. Family and friends are invited to join in a visitation beginning at 11:30 am followed by a service at 12:30 pm. A graveside service will then take place at Arlington Memorial Gardens at 1:30 pm.

Louis will be laid to rest with full military honors, a fitting tribute to his service to his country and his commitment to excellence. His contagious smile and laugh will forever be remembered and missed by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to The Shield Inc., 7149 Ridge Road, Cincinnati, OH 45237 or https://theshieldohio.com/donate/
