Marcella J. Glasmeier

march 13, 1927 – july 6, 2025

Marcella J. Glasmeier

Marcella J. Glasmeier, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on March 13, 1927, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Marcella dedicated her life to her family, her work, and her passions. She spent many years as a bank teller; a job she took pride in while touching the lives of many in her community.

Marcella married her dear husband, Elmer, in 1952, and they shared a loving life together until his passing in 2011. She was the proud mother of four: daughters Linda Byrd and Patty Even, and sons Michael (deceased) and Timothy Glasmeier. Marked by a deep bond, Marcella embraced her role as a grandmother to Michael Glasmeier Jr., Christina Lewis, Stacey Davis, Andrew Even, Brian Byrd, Christopher Byrd, Camryn Glasmeier, and Kelsie Glasmeier, and 13 great grandchildren sharing countless moments filled with love and laughter.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Alice Bascom (nee Hillis), her beloved husband, Elmer Glasmeier, her son Michael Glasmeier, as well as her siblings and in-laws.

Family holidays were a highlight in Marcella’s life; Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter were celebrated with joy and warmth in her home. She took pleasure in gardening in her younger years and had a special way of caring for her beloved dogs—Peanut, Henry, Rocky, and Rusty—who were cherished companions. Marcella had a passion for old country music, often filling her home with the sounds of legends like Charlie Pride and Johnny Cash.

A vibrant presence at her children’s activities, she could often be found cheering at soccer games or basking in the excitement of NCAA basketball tournaments. Marcella was also known for teaching Linda the art of embroidery and for sharing special moments with Patty as they navigated the roads together while learning to drive. She enjoyed traveling with her children on vacations and made it a priority to spend quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially during the holidays.

Marcella’s favorite color was blue, and her loyalty to the sports teams she loved—UC and Xavier University basketball—was unwavering. Her playful spirit and nurturing heart will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered.

In honor of Marcella’s life, services will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231 (follow the blue line upon entering the memorial park). Visitation at 7:30 AM with service starting at 8:45 AM. A graveside service will immediately follow in the Garden of Last Supper. All are welcome to join in celebrating a remarkable woman who devoted her life to her family and community.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Marcella’s life to Vitas Community Connection, 11500 Northlake Drive, 45249 or Vitas Com Con.org.

Marcella’s legacy of love, devotion, and joy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
