Marlene Evelyn Theile, a devoted mother and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully, at the age of 91, in the early morning of April 17, 2026, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born in Miami, Florida in 1935, Marlene dedicated her life to nurturing young people and instilling a love of learning in her students while proudly building a beautiful family of her own.
She is survived by her sons: Craig (Peggy), Glenn (Patricia), and Kevin (Beth). She was a cherished grandmother to Jackson, Caroline, Patrick, Jill (John), Gregory, Kendall (Aaron), Madison (Jackson), Regan, great-grandmother to Adelaide and Claire and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ron, of 53 years, son Daren, parents Marlon and Evelyn Hayes, and brothers, Marlon Hayes (Eleanor), and Richard Willis (Jan).
In Marlene’s high school days she was an avid dancer. She was a proud 1956 graduate of Florida State University and a loyal member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She met Ron in 1958 while both were teaching overseas in Germany. They married in Switzerland in 1959 and returned to Ron’s hometown of Cincinnati to begin their family.
Marlene was a dedicated elementary school teacher and a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church. A longtime resident of Wyoming, Ohio, she retired to Maple Knoll Village where she involved herself in many activities and leadership roles. She built lasting relationships with fellow residents and thoroughly enjoyed the vibrancy of the supportive community around her for a full decade. Family and friends were always Marlene’s most cherished blessings.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Maple Knoll Chapel on Friday, June 12th at 11:00 AM. A private family inurnment will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens.
