HAS OCCURRED
Mary Emge (née Meyer), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, at her home in Harrison, Ohio. She was born on September 6, 1946, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to John and Ursula Meyer.
Mary is survived by her son Ryan Emge and daughter-in-law Kelli, and her cherished grandchildren Ruth, Rand, Luke, Rebekah, and Lydia Emge. She was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews: Pegi, Phillip, Paul and Pete (children of John and Judy Meyer); John and Joey (children of Charlie and Patty Meyer); and Chris, Steve, and Angie (children of Fran and Clyde Reed). She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Emge (2021), her siblings John Meyer, Charlie Meyer, and Fran Reed, and many dear friends who shared meals, laughter, and warm gatherings with her over the years.
Mary’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment with her loved ones and adored her grandchildren above all else, treasuring the time spent with them. She was one of the most positive people you would ever meet. No matter what life threw at her, and it threw plenty, she always focused on the future, fully expecting things to get better any day now (and usually convincing everyone else they would too). One passage that resonates well with Mary’s life is Philippians 4:8 “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things.” This verse beautifully exemplified her positive spirit. She expressed that love and optimism through her creative talents, enjoying needlepoint, jewelry making, and ceramics often pouring her heart into handmade gifts and projects created especially for her family. She also loved hosting warm gatherings at her home in Harrison and going out to dinner with those closest to her. In her final days, Mary experienced a renewed faith in Christ and the peace that passes all understanding, similar to her husband Ron, as mentioned in Philippians 4:6.
In honor of her wishes, there will be no funeral services. Mary was a generous giver who was always looking for ways to help others.
