Maxine Verna Barrier, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on August 5, 2024, at the age of 92.
Born on May 30, 1932, in Morehead, Kentucky, Maxine was a woman of many talents and passions. She worked as a jeweler for the B David Company, where she poured her creative spirit into crafting beautiful pieces. Maxine’s loving and vibrant personality left a lasting impact on all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth Barrier and Jeffrey (Kelly) Barrier; sisters Oleita and Betty (Marvin) Hugo; daughter-in-law Rita Barrier; grandchildren Timothy Barrier Jr., Heather Riley, and Jason Barrier; great-grandchildren James Smith, Jennah Davidson, and Joscelyn Davidson; as well as a host of other family and dear friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Sena Cooper; her loving husband Delmon Barrier; her children Gregory Barrier, Timothy Barrier, and Lesa McFerron; her grandson Gregory Barrier Jr.; and her siblings Goldie Marie, Rachel Violet, Lee Belle, Ruby Frances, William Felden, Milta May, Chester Allen, Isla Delores, Beulah Beatrice, and Eugene.
She was a gifted musician who enjoyed playing the guitar and singing with her family. She delighted in sharing spooky tales with her grandchildren during sleepovers and had a knack for bringing laughter and joy to those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A visitation for Maxine will take place at the Clifton Seventh-Day Adventist Church 3800 Clifton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45220 on September 4, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Arlington Memorial Gardens at 2:30 pm on the same day.
Maxine’s life and legacy will be celebrated, and her memory cherished by all those who were touched by her remarkable spirit. May she rest in peace.
