A DEATH
HAS OCCURRED
It is with deep sadness the Family announce the passing of their own, Michael William Slaughter on December 12, 2024, at the age of 62. Michael was born on August 31, 1962, in Cincinnati, Ohio. A beloved son, husband, brother, father, uncle, friend, who loved life to the fullest. Michael is a graduate of Norwood High School, where he was honored as a Distinguished Honoree in the Hall of Fame. Thereafter graduated from University of Cincinnati, with a double major in Marketing & Business earning a bachelor’s degree, while playing baseball field. Michael was hired immediately after graduation by a top fortune 500 company, which began his career path. Several relocations later coming back home to Cincinnati 2013.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Rea (Parsalis) Slaughter of 36 years and Yanni & Adrian Dourakos, and Bionca Rudy, whom he embraced as his own. Proud parents Russell and Ruth (se Hines) Slaughter, loving sister Nancy (Alan) Woods, beautiful nieces Sarah and Ashley, and his beloved pets; Cosmo, Hercules, Savannah, along with his late pets, Scarlet & Rhett.
Michael loved sports and he was an avid & loyal fan of the Reds, Bengals, Bearcats, along with Nascar Racing. Michael’s passions: Golf, esp., enjoyed the annual group trips with this buds, Hiking numerous trails in the Smokeys where he often retreated to his Mountain Cabin for RR, Long Range Target-Shooting, esp., weekly gatherings at Joe’s with the guys, Marathon Cycling to fundraising for Cancer Research & Charities. He was also a Car Enthusiast, with a special love for Porsches & Corvettes and enjoyed driving & gathering with those that share his interest.
Michael was known as a genuine person who took an interest in getting to know people, and that reflected positive impressions of him. His uniqueness to engage in conversation at any time & on any topic was an impressive and charming attribute. He was extraordinarily well versed and quite entertaining with his confidence, humor, and wit. Michael was a self-driven person who thrived on accomplishment. He especially enjoyed mentoring people and seeing them succeed professionally or otherwise. His endearing personality was refreshing and drew people to him. When working in the yard, he would inevitably find himself on the property line chatting it up with a neighbor, or a neighbor coming from across the street to chat with him over a beer. Michael was also compassionate and sympathetic person & a loyal and dedicated family man. He was adamant about driving 10 hours to & from his son’s boot camp graduation two weeks prior to his passing, then coming back to 5 days of radiation. The love he had for his parents, wife, children & his adorned pets was unmeasurable. There was a time, where he spent days in a hospital comforting a family friend battling terminal cancer, while he himself just came from his own treatment, and then, volunteered to mow her lawn while she was hospitalized. Another time, when he worked into the evening and when walking toward his car, he spotted a female worker examining her tire. Rather than making a quick call to the Company Security desk, he proceeded to change the tire for her. She told him she couldn’t believe the CEO/President was helping a warehouse employee with a tire change. Another time, when he stopped for gas at midnight and a Family of 5 had pumped more fuel than they had money to pay, Michael filled their tank, checked them into local hotel for the night, and gave them some spending money to get to their long distant destination. Michael lived a life selflessness, even with the 11 years of cancer. His legacy lies in the hearts & memories of all who know him and will never forget him.

“I’m deeply honored to have known Mike, even briefly, during my time at USPC. When I joined the company during COVID, Mike, despite facing his own challenges, took the time to send me a personal welcome note. His warmth and generosity made everyone feel at ease, often overshadowing his role as president. I cherish the moments spent painting at their temporary home after the fire that affected them. Mike, your kindness will be missed, and your legacy will forever remain in our hearts. May you rest in peace.”

“Mike was head of Sales and eventually President at USPC. He was great. Nothing arrogant about Mike. He was just a real guy, with no pretense about him. Always found him to be kind and generous and fair. He was such a positive person and had a good sense of humor. And it was remarkable how he handled his illness and treatment while continuing to work. And I don’t just mean show up to work. He will be missed by so many. All the best to his family. “High school friend. Senior prom date and one of the nicest boys. Yes I say boys as we were just kids but boy did we have fun. After graduation Mike enjoyed a little too much to drink and I had to drive his car home which was the first and last time I drove it. RIP my friend. Prayers to your beautiful family.”
