Nancy Ann “Mimi” Horton

July 19, 1934 – May 5, 2025

Nancy Ann “Mimi” Horton

With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of Nancy Ann “Mimi” Horton, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted friend, who departed this world peacefully on May 5, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on July 19, 1934, in Birmingham, Michigan, Nancy filled her 90 years with a tapestry of vibrant colors — both on canvas and in life. An artist at heart, Nancy adorned the world with her oil and watercolor paintings, each brushstroke illuminating her fierce spirit and resilient nature. She was a gifted singer, whose harmonies brought joy to all who were fortunate enough to hear her enchanting voice. A lover of language, she weaved poetry with grace and beauty, captivating hearts with her words. Her artistic talents extended to the piano, where she played with the passion that reflected her dedication to the arts. As a teacher, Nancy’s spirit resonated deeply with her students at Northwest School District. During her years in education, she started and ran the Instructional Materials Center in the Edison local school district.

Her commitment to learning was matched only by her unwavering love for her family. Fierce and protective, she created a haven for her daughters, Allyson and Tracy, and her son, Steve, where laughter and music flourished under her watchful eye. Her legacy lives on through her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom carry a piece of her spirit within them. Nancy was also a dedicated member of her church community and held the position of president of the Goodwill Guild. She cherished the camaraderie of friendships, creating memories with her Gillie Cat Dolls, a testament to her joyful creativity. It was within the family that she instituted the cherished fondue tradition; a delicious blessing shared around the dinner table. As we grieve the loss of Nancy’s generosity, creativity, and strength, we find solace in remembering her radiant smile and the lives she touched. Nancy Horton will be deeply missed, but her love, art, and music will echo in our hearts. Funeral services will be held in her honor, where family and friends will gather to share stories and celebrate the extraordinary life of Nancy. Details of the services will be forthcoming, as we come together to pay tribute to the remarkable woman we were privileged to know and love. In her memory, we invite all who loved her to join us as we honor her strength, creativity, and the indelible mark she left on our lives.

Rest in peace, Nancy; your spirit will forever illuminate our paths. Nancy was preceded in death by: Her husband Dean and her sister Sue
