Opal Lavania Morris, aged 88, went home to be with Jesus on March 1, 2023, as a result of a long fight against cancer. Opal was born to the late Sol and Mossie Long on January 15, 1935, in Miracle, Kentucky. Opal married her beloved husband, the late Elmer Morris on May 25, 1984. They shared a love of the Cincinnati Reds, their poodle Andrea, and mostly spoiling her nieces and nephews. In addition, Opal loved crocheting, crafting, sewing, and gardening. She held an unwavering faith in God and was a life-long member of New Haven Missionary Baptist Church. Opal joins her sisters Omega Hopkins, Edith Gregory, Virginia Schoettinger, Pearl Wilkerson, and brother Clyde Long in heaven. Opal is survived by sister Sylvania Holmes, sister-in-law Judith Long, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday March 8, 2023, from 5:00 pm – 7:00
pm at New Haven Missionary Baptist Church, 2417 Indian Mound Avenue, Norwood, Ohio 45212.
Funeral service following at 7:00 pm at New Haven Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial at Arlington Memorial Gardens on Thursday March 9, 2023, at 11:15 am. Meet at Family Gathering area at the Cemetery (there will be people there to direct us) then proceed to the grave site for the service.
