Peggy Lou Shotton, 81, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 17, 1943, in Harlan, Kentucky, to Walter and Goldie (Nee Blanton) Albright.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Diana (Daniel) Klar, grandchildren Kristina Klar, Melissa Klar, Sierra (Aaron) Henline, great-grandchildren Zachariah Henline and Aurora Henline, siblings Phyllis Cholak and Sue Albright and many extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 42 years, Robert Lee Shotton Jr., her son Gregory L Shotton, siblings James “Sonny” Albright and John Albright.

Peggy had a sign in her kitchen that read “Seasoned with Love.” Those who knew her would agree that statement fits her perfectly. Not just the way she prepared food, but her personality, her heart and her entire life. She didn’t just feed the person, she fed their soul. Peggy got acquainted with Jesus when she was young, who she followed in the Holiness faith, the rest of her life. She loved people the way the Bible tells us to love people. Over the years, she kept multiple family and friends in her home for days, weeks and months, providing them with warm meals and clean beds. When she cooked, family and neighbors got calls to come and share. She was quick to share her smile and conversation with cashiers and fellow shoppers, bank tellers, nurses and doctors, so many in her community knew and loved her. She’d let them know about the Lord, and tell them to pray and go to church. Peggy was easy to laugh, a source of fun and a joy to be around. The source of her joy is what was best of all. Jesus was her life. She was faithful to her church and to God’s people. She was a prayer warrior, a singer and blessed with the gift of helps. What lived in her soul fed the souls of others. As dementia began to diminish who she had been, making her forget the names of the family she had raised and been the rock of, her sewing projects left unfinished and forgotten, there was always her Holy Ghost that remained. He never left her. And her Lord was never forgotten, called upon as she prayed until the time consciousness left her. So I tell you, don’t grieve for Peggy. Be inspired by her. Love and follow the Lord like she did and you can spend eternity getting to know her better, where, like the old song says, “all is joy and peace and love, where the soul of man never dies.”

The family will receive friends at Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 7435 Hamilton Ave, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231 on Wednesday, April 23, 2024, from 10:00 AM  –  12:00 noon. Funeral services will be at Paul R. Young Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 23, 2024 at 12:00 noon. Interment will be at Arlington Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
