Phyliss J. Schaefer, age 88, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2025. Born in Cincinnati on September 28, 1936, she was the beloved daughter of William and Dorothea Bernhardt (nee Martin).
A lifelong resident of Cincinnati, Phyliss dedicated her career to serving as an employee of the Cincinnati Public Schools. She was an once an active member of St. Peter and St. Paul United Church of Christ and a current member of Oak Hills United Methodist Church. Additionally, she was involved with the Mack Fire Ladies Auxiliary of Green Township and the Green Township Seniors, reflecting her commitment to her community and the many lives she touched.
Phyliss was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Roy Schaefer; her son, Richard Schaefer; and her parents, William and Dorothea Bernhardt. She leaves behind a loving family: son Robert (Barb) Schaefer; grandchildren Richard Schaefer, Jr., Ryan Schaefer, Robert Schaefer, II, and Madison Schaefer; great-grandchildren Richard Schaefer, III, Kimberlyn Schaefer, Amberlyn Schaefer, and Raleigh Schaefer; dear friend Ralph Siegert; sister Barbara (George) Willenbrink; as well as many nieces, cousins, and a host of family members and friends.
A visitation honoring Phyliss will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions, located at 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM, with burial taking place at Arlington Memorial Gardens.
