Obituary via Frederick Funeral Home
In loving memory of Richard C. Knapp, who was born in Cincinnati, OH on May 10, 1934, and was the cherished son of the late Fred and Viola Knapp. Richard peacefully passed away on September 28, 2025, at the age of 91. Richard, a devoted family man and a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Richard exemplified strength, reliability, and warmth throughout his life’s journey.
Richard “Dick” was a devoted husband to the late Nancy G. Knapp (nee Bell). He was a cherished father to Deborah (John) Roney, Denise (David) Kallmeyer, and Gary (Alina) Knapp. As a proud grandfather, he delighted in the lives of Tammy (Kenny) Terry, Sarah (Peter) Stow, Brenda Brefeld, Renee (Rick) Williams, Meghan (Tyler) Gideon, and Alyssa Knapp. Richard’s heart swelled with joy in the presence of his great-grandchildren: Brayden, Gregory, Gavin, Natalie, Emma, Autumn, Austin, Audrey, Jackson, Anna, Grayson, Garrett, Aria, and Adalynn, whose laughter and love were the light of his life. He was also a dear brother to his siblings, the late James Knapp, the late Fred Knapp Jr., and Janet Anderson. Richard will forever hold a special place in the hearts of his family, and his memory will live on through stories filled with love and laughter.
Richard was a member of The Airmasters RC Club (a model airplane club) for at least 25 years in Cleves, Ohio. He enjoyed flying the planes that he built, and when he no longer could do this, he enjoyed helping out with the mowing of the flying field. Richard was also a gifted and avid woodworker/cabinetmaker. His creations were not only in his home but shared with family members and friends.
In celebration of Richard’s life, a visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Frederick Funeral Home, located at 2553 Banning Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45239, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:30 AM. Family and friends are invited to join together to reflect on the memories and impact Richard had on all of our lives. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be directed to The Hansen House, at 1750 W. Camino Kino, Yuma, AZ 85364, as a tribute to Richard’s compassionate spirit and commitment to helping others in need. As we gather to celebrate Richard’s life, let us remember his warmth, love, and unwavering spirit. He will be profoundly missed, but his legacy will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
