A DEATH
HAS OCCURRED
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rita Madonna Thomas, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who left us on December 20, 2025, at the age of 67 in her lifelong home of Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on March 12, 1958, Rita was a shining light in the lives of everyone who knew her.
Rita was known for her warmth, kindness, and a heart that gave freely. She grew up in a loving home, where hardworking parents instilled in her the values of resilience and commitment. As one of several siblings, she forged bonds that lasted a lifetime, often sharing laughs and the joys of family life with her sisters, Theresa, Paula, and Sherri, and her brothers, Dennis and James. Her siblings blessed her with numerous nieces and nephews, whom she cherished and showered with love.
In her own journey, Rita met the love of her life, Bob. Together, they built a beautiful family, welcoming their three wonderful children: Ann, Paul, and Jennifer. Rita was a devoted mother who taught her children through everyday moments—both the big and the small—showcasing the importance of love, care, and hard work. Their family shared countless memories, from camping trips and backyard fires to spirited Fourth of July celebrations, game nights at the kitchen table, and winter sledding adventures at Harbin Park. Family vacations in Florida were treasured times of laughter and bonding that her children will cherish forever.
Rita was not just a caregiver to her family but to anyone in need. She had a special way of making everyone feel welcome, offering her last shirt if someone needed it and always ensuring that no one left her home hungry. The love she poured into her family was unyielding, as she doted on her grandchildren—Abi, Brayden, Ziva, Lexi, and Declan—as they filled her life with joy.
Rita is survived by her loving children and grandchildren, as well as her dedicated siblings, who will miss her dearly. In the spirit of honoring Rita, family and friends will gather to celebrate her remarkable life and the love she shared.
A visitation will take place at Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231 (follow the blue line upon entering the memorial park) on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 4:00 PM, followed by a service from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Rita will be remembered with warmth and love.
In Rita’s honor, let us carry forward her legacy of love, compassion, and the spirit of family that she so cherished.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Thomas Jr., her parents, Paul and Shirley Grosser and her brother Dennis Grosser.
