Robert Edward Burket, aged 73, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2023, surrounded by family.
Bob was born in Cincinnati OH on March 12, 1950 to the late Dr. Robert L. Burket and the late Joan (Kelly) Burket. As the first born, Bob was looked up to by his siblings, Karin (Jerry), Rich (Cynthia), the late Jonathan Burket, and Becky (Randy).
Bob was a 1969 graduate from Greenhills High School. He earned his Bachelor of Business Degree at University of Cincinnati and his Master’s Degree in Hospital and Health Administration at Xavier University. Bob worked at UC’s School of Medicine for the majority of his career. He was known for his strong work ethic, always putting coworkers first, and his great sense of humor.
A collector of t-shirts with funny sayings, comic strips, and shot glasses, Bob was quick to make you laugh and had a way of making everyone feel like family.
Bob was deeply devoted to his family. He married Diane (Kissel) on August 31, 1973 and had four children, Shannon (Maarten) Brooke, Bobby and Paul. He treasured his grandboys, Alexander, Jonas, Willem, and Lincoln, and was happy to teach each of them his wrestling moves.
Bob’s dedication extended beyond his collections; he attended every home game, packed the car for the annual Burket Family Reunion at Cedar Point, and made sacrifices in his career to ensure his family could go to college debt-free.
Sunday mornings were filled with Swedish pancakes, a Burket Family tradition, and impromptu wrestling matches with his sons and later grandsons.
Bob deeply cared for his family. He cared endlessly for his son, Robert “Bobby”, after returning home from Iraq as a combat engineer until his death in 2011.
In his final act of selflessness, he later moved in with his mother to provide end-of-life care.
His warm heart, sense of humor, and devotion to his immediate family extends to countless loving cousins, aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Bob will be missed but his legacy will forever live on by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Everybody loves Bob!
