Roger VanDeRyt

Roger Leo Ronald VanDeRyt, a beloved member of the Okeana community, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024. Born in Mt. Healthy, OH on June 8, 1941, Roger was a dedicated butcher and the proud owner of R&R Meats on Pippin Road. His passion for his work shone through in the quality of his craft, earning him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Roger had a deep love for gardening and taxidermy, showcasing his creative talents and attention to detail. Those who had the privilege of knowing him at his nursing home will fondly recall his candid and humorous nature, often leaving them with memorable one-liners to cherish.

Roger found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as watching TV, with Westerns being his favorite genre. His appreciation for the classics spoke to his nostalgic spirit and love for storytelling.

Roger is survived by his daughter Kelly Gilmartin, his son Brian VanDeRyt, friend and business partner, Tim Lariccia, and a community of friends and loved ones who will forever hold him in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Loretta VanDeRyt, wife, Cindy VanDeRyt, and grandson, Brian VanDeRyt.

Visitation to honor Roger will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 11:00am-1:00pm at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231 (Follow the BLUE line).

Roger’s legacy of hard work, creativity, and unwavering humor will live on in the memories of all those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty of the gardens he tended and the stories he cherished.
