Ruby Cole

Ruby Marie Cole of Cincinnati passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born on October 25, 1929, to Ruy and Cora Trautwein in Arlington, Ohio. Ruby is survived by her son, Robert (Deborah) Cole, grandchildren, Ryan (Owen) Cole and Ellen (Andy) Kilgore, her great grandchildren, Lucas (her hero) and Evie (her princess), sisters, Betty George and Shirley Simonson, and sister-in-law, Diana Trautwein. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, and in-laws Rose (Wayne) Bibler, Bonnie (Gene) Grohoske, Charlie Trautwein, Bob Simonson and Chuck George. She credited her farm upbringing for her success in life.  She worked for many years at Children’s Hospital on the executive team that laid the foundation for the national treasure it has become. That work and the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her fondest memories.  May she rest in peace, her work is done. The family will welcome family and friends for a Celebration on Life at Winton Woods-Racoon Ridge Shelter on May 2, 2026, at 1pm. A private service will be held with immediate family at a later date. “So very sorry to hear of your loss in Ruby’s passing. She was a kind & gentle Blessing to all who knew her. I believe she is shining in Heaven as she did here among her beloved family & friends. No question she heard “Well Done, My Good & Faithful Servant”. Prayers that God holds you close in a blanket of His Love as only He can do. Lots of Love & Many Hugs!!!♥️🧡🫶🙏🙏”

“I worked at Children’s Hospital for 45 years and remember Ruby in that regard. She was not a personal friend, but we interacted and were acquainted through our contact over the many years I was there. Ruby was a force of nature at that institution and anyone who knew her then, knew that as well. She was a tough, no nonsense, although very personable woman, devoted to CCHMC. After her retirement, she continued her dedication to CCHMC as a volunteer. I am very pleased to be able to say that I had the opportunity to know her. May she rest in peace.”

“I will always remember the fun we had taken you to the doctor. RIP my friend.”

“God love, Ruby… It’s been a great pleasure taking care of her for many years. I’ve enjoyed our talks when she was a child growing up… as well as her life journey I’m so glad we got to share her birthday this past year at the salon… I will miss seeing her! I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending loving prayers and light and healing to all of you.💖🙏🏻Pegge”
