Ruth Ann Hopper

august 4, 1925 – june 7, 2024

Ruth Ann Hopper

Ruth Ann Hopper, a beloved member of the community, peacefully passed away on June 7, 2024, at the age of 98, in her daughter’s home in West Hills, CA. She was born on August 4, 1925, in Miamitown, Ohio, to Walter and Louise Zoellner (nee Fuchs).

Ruth dedicated her life to serving the Arts industry, working tirelessly at the Cincinnati Opera and Cincinnati Ballet Costume Departments. Her passion and commitment led her to become a Union Business Representative for Local 864, the Theatrical Wardrobe Union, where she faithfully served for nearly 35 years. Ruth’s love for life extended beyond her work; she took pleasure in shopping, supporting the Cincinnati Reds, playing dominoes, and partaking in backyard picnics.

Having a rich history in sports, Ruth proudly captained her high school basketball team and cherished the time she spent engaging in golf and other recreational activities. She cherished her time spent with her husband, Roy Hopper, a brave US Marine and Silver Star Award recipient, whom she adored. Together, they enjoyed going on cruises and gatherings with friends and family.

Ruth will be deeply missed by her son, Joe (Dana) Hopper, and daughter, Deborah Hopper. She is survived by her grandson, Ryan (Lara) Hopper, and granddaughter, Carlye (Kevin) Enzweiler, as well as her great-grandchildren, Ariel Hopper and Justin Schingledecker. Ruth also leaves behind her brother, Walter (Debbie) Zoellner.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred (John) Benzing, Dorothy Zoellner, Esther (Frank) Hermes, Joann (Mike) Marzigliano, Laverne (Ken) Hartman and her son-in-law, Joel Frank.
