Sharon Gillespie

March 30, 1965 – December 30, 2024

Sharon Gillespie

Sharon Gillespie, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 30, 2024, at the age of 59.

Sharon brought a brilliant light and love to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her life was a testament to compassion, curiosity, and selfless devotion to others.

Born to Douglas (Candy) Kiser and Dolly (Daryl) Klanke (Carrington) on March 30, 1965, Sharon grew up with a passion for learning and an insatiable curiosity about the world.  She obtained an Early Childhood Education degree while raising 4 children.  She found satisfaction as a Montessori Teacher, a Mentor, and Parent Educator – dedicated to Family Enrichment through reunification.

She carried her love for reading throughout her life, filling her days with books. She also knew her music, and vintage treasures. A skilled antiquarian with an eye for decorating. Sharon delighted in discovering unique pottery and timeless relics that reflected her rich and whimsical spirit.

Sharon’s wealth of musical and pop culture knowledge made her a joy to be around, sparking conversations and laughter that will be sorely missed. Her sharp mind and quick wit were matched only by her deep compassion for others, qualities that defined her relationships and inspired those around her.

Sharon was a devoted wife to her husband, Jimmy Gillespie of South Lebanon, Ohio, and a wonderful mother to her children: Nick (wife Shelby), Kris (wife Maegan), and their daughter Addie, Chelsea Jo and son Michael, Braden,  Katy (husband Nick), and their two sons Avett and Bennett. Her family was her greatest joy, and her love for them was unconditional and unwavering.  Her dog Shorty was with her at the time of her passing offering a comfort that was not uncommon throughout their time together.

Sharon was deeply connected to her siblings, finding strength in their bond. She is survived by her sister Leanna “La La” (husband Brian Ritchie), brother Randy (wife Denise), Tim and Jen Klanke, and Justin and Katie Klanke. Her many nieces and nephews, too numerous to list, held a special place in her heart. Sharon is preceded in death by her cherished sister Karen, whom she loved deeply and thought about daily.

Like the water she so often found herself near Sharon’s life was a reflection of her remarkable heart and enduring generosity. She gave endlessly to her family and community, always putting others first and inspiring those around her with her love and strength. “Kindness Matters” was her motto and she had the ability to draw it out of others – some say she was a “Kindness Magnet”

A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at 10:30AM on the 25th of January 2025 at Fairhaven Church (Centerville) 637 E. Whipp Rd Centerville, OH 45459

In lieu of flowers, childrens books can be donated to Child Focus “Sunshine for Sharon – Legacy of Readers” in her memory. There is also be an opportunity to assist in co-funding a Scholarship “Positively Sharon” for future students pursuing an Early Childhood Education.

Sharon Gillespie, your laughter, wisdom, and radiant kindness will remain forever in our hearts. You leave behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew you and many you’ve never met.

Please consider wearing something bright and colorful. Her favorite color is pink.
