Steve James Witte

February 1, 1959 – march 29, 2026

Steven James Witte

Steven James Witte, 67, of Dry Ridge, Ky., passed away suddenly on March 29, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

Steve was a man who lived life with a unique blend of conviction, consistency, and deep love for his family.  Steve was known for doing things “his way,” but those closest to him knew that behind his routines and quirks was a heart fully devoted to his friends and family.  He had a way of showing up – steady, present, and dependable.  Whether through his guidance, his humor, or simply his presence, Steve left a lasting mark on those who knew him.

Steve was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a BS and MS in mathematics and engineering, and was a devoted fan of all things Cincinnati sports.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela Witte, as well as his children, Steven Michael Witte, of Erlanger, Ky., and Amanda Sue Witte (Amy), of Middletown, Ohio, his brother Mark Witte (Carly) of Tampa, FL and sister Sue Richer of Hebron, KY.  He is also survived by stepchildren Tim Moore (Sarah) of Orlando, Fla., and April Haller (Jeremy) of Hebron, Ky.  He is further survived by his grandchildren: Madeline, Sophie, Abby, Maisie, Cody, Axel, and Hanalei.  Steve is preceded in death by his parents, James and Carol Witte.

Visitation will be held at Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, (follow the blue line upon entering the memorial park) on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM with a funeral service to follow at 1:30 PM.  Burial will be in the Arlington Memorial Gardens.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the American Heart Association.

Steve will be remembered for his steadfast love and his relentless desire to reclaim any Tupperware he may have let you borrow.

“Although I can’t say I had the chance to know Steve very well, our daily exchanges were a light in my day, he was so nice and welcoming, his kind soul showing behind every word. His bright smile and warmth will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.”

“Very sorry to hear about this. Having worked with Steve for 20 years, I’ll remember his laughter and lightheartedness. He was always very helpful and cordial to anyone he met. Steve was also very dedicated and always maintained a strong work ethic. My condolences to the Witte family RIP my friend!”

“Steve was the kind of colleague who could brighten your day with just a smile and his unique way of asking how things were going. I truly enjoyed seeing him every day at work. No matter the situation, he always had a smile on his face. I can still picture him turning around in his chair every time I walked past his desk, always ready with a warm greeting and ready to answer any question I might have. I will truly miss him! My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.”

“Steve came into our lives when he and my sister Pam were wed. He made such an impactful difference in everything he proceeded to do. The times we all shared will be forever stored away and these things give us comfort as well. “The Captain” as he was affectionally known to me and my wife Pam, will be in our hearts eternally. It’s not goodbye Captain, it’s until we meet again my brother. We love you.”

“I’m very sorry for your family’s loss. Steve’s obituary was beautifully written and truly captured the kind of person he was and the impact he had on others. I hope you find comfort during this time, knowing the many lives he touched and the legacy he left behind. I will greatly miss his presence in the office and our daily sports talks.”

“I worked with Steve for many years. Steve made coming to work enjoyable and I looked forward to seeing him each day. He will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.”
