Steven Lee Prather, a beloved father, devoted grandfather and proud Navy Veteran passed away on June 16, 2024, in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of 67. Born on February 27, 1957, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Steven was a dedicated and honorable service man who provided for his family.
Known for his love of family and passion for baseball, Steven cherished the time spent with his sons, grandchildren and furry companion Crosley. His passion for his hometown team, the Cincinnati Reds, passed on to his sons and grandchildren at a very early age. He delighted in watching his grandchildren grow, and always took the opportunity to spend cherish able time with them. Steven enjoyed the beach, and the festive cheer of Christmas symbolized the joy and beauty he found in life. His vibrant spirit and kind heart left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Proud to be raised on the Westside of Cincinnati, he often reminisced about attending baseball games and delivering newspapers as a child. Given the nickname of “Spanky” creating memories that would last a lifetime. His dedication to serving the United States Navy for 24 years showcased his commitment to his country and upholding the values he held dear.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Marian Prather (nee Wensing), and his sisters Mickey and Karen.
Steven is survived by his sons, Shawn and Kenneth Prather, along with his grandchildren: Austyn, Jonathan, Jaxson, Jasmine, Kayla, Evan, Kaleb and Cayden. His great grandchild, Elliot. His sisters Maryann Prather and Jan Helms, and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231 (follow the blue line, upon entering the memorial park). Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M.- 4:00 P.M., Service following directly after from 4:00 P.M to 5:00 P.M.
Steven’s legacy of love, laughter, unwavering dedication will forever live on through the memories he created and the lives he touched. To know Steven was to love him. May he rest in peace, be forever cherished and always remembered.
