A DEATH
HAS OCCURRED
Steve Elbrecht, beloved husband, Dad, and Grandpa, passed away in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 2, 2025, at age 68. A lifetime resident of Cincinnati, Steve saw the world through his service with the Air Force in the 1970s and saw the country through his work as a truck driver for more than 40 years.
Steve loved music, golf, food, cards, and people—he never met a stranger, and was never forgotten by one once he had. More than anything, Steve loved his family, and lived his life to better theirs. He will be fondly remembered for his big laugh, blue eyes, and willingness to do anything for anyone.
Steve is survived by Star (neè Fraley), his devoted wife of 47 years, their children Steven and Shana (Jon) Karnes, and granddaughters Ruth and Jane Karnes. While he will be greatly missed, we take comfort in knowing Steve is reunited with loved ones who have preceded him in death, especially his parents Robert and Ruth Elbrecht, siblings Eddie and Kim, and parents-in-law Forest and Iva Fraley.
Steve will be laid to rest in a private service at Arlington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you consider a donation in Steve’s honor to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org) or American Heart Association (www.heart.org).

“Star and family, we were shocked to hear of Steve’s passing. He and Robert worked together and have the crazy midnight stories of Steve in his slippers walking into the truck stop to order his sausage biscuit and coffee! I know as I was usually talking to Robert on the phone!! While they hadn’t talked in a while, he and Robert were good friends. We will keep you in our prayers and please reach out if we can help. Our sincerest sympathies for you and your family. RIP PTA!! Robert and Gail”
