Steward Lee Nelson Sr. was born January 18, 1949, in McDonough, GA to the late Carrie Mae Duffey and the late Harvey Nelson. He was the oldest of five children. When Steward was ten years old, he came to live in Cincinnati, Ohio with his mother, great aunt Carolyn Spikes and great uncle Clifford Turner. When Steward was a teenager, he entered Job Corp. One of the states he visited was Minnesota where he met his first wife and mother to his four children, the late Joyce Nelson. Steward made a home with Joyce in Cincinnati. They were known as “Bird Dog” and “Lady Bird Dog” in the CB club that they were a part of. He was an OTR truck driver for Peterbilt and then went to work at Delta Dry Ice as a warehouse worker and truck driver. He worked there until he retired in 2011. Since his retirement, Steward lived life on his terms and made many friends along the way. He enjoyed being able to love and experience his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
