Terrence Derrick Evans

Terrence Derrick Evans

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Terrence Derrick Evans, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished family man. Born on June 28, 1953, in Covington, KY, Terry sadly left us on August 14, 2024, at his home in Bright, IN, surrounded by his family.

Known for his adventurous spirit and love for the great outdoors. In his younger years, he enjoyed activities like caving, rock climbing, racquetball, and volleyball. After becoming a dad, he was a “Cookie Dad” for his daughter’s Girl Scout Troop, and he dedicated time to the Boy Scouts helping them earn their rank and instilling values of camaraderie and discipline. He supported his son in his competitive marching band traveling the state of Indiana. An avid outdoorsman, he frequently took his family on vacations to national and state parks, including a memorable trip to Florida where his daughter learned to wind surf.

With a love for the color yellow and a knack for teaching marksmanship, Terry was active in the NRA, passing on his knowledge to his children, nieces, and nephews. An enthusiastic traveler, he ventured with his son to Boyne City for camping and fishing trips, creating lasting memories of the great outdoors.

Terry shared a beautiful union with his beloved wife, Cynthia, affectionately known as Cindy, for 38 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. He leaves to cherish his children, Sarah and Jon, his sister Lisa Russell, his nieces Alisha (Juwant’e) Edwards, Ja’lisa Russell, Columbiana Watkins, his nephews Tualon (Michelle) Russell, Shijonta’ Watkins, his great nieces Apryl, Kamari, Kylie, Ma’Kayla, his great nephews TJ, Devin, Jaedyn, Ja’Kai and extended family and friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, John and Shirley Evans (nee Eckard), his brother Greg Evans, and his nephew Avonta’ Russell.

A celebration of Terry’s life will take place with a Visitation at 10:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231. Graveside Service commences at 12:00 pm at Arlington Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Trinity.

In honoring Terry’s memory, donations can be made to American Cancer Society https://donate.cancer.org/ or an animal rescue of your choice.

We remember a man who embraced life’s adventures with open arms and shared his passions with all those he held dear. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.

“My deepest condolences, Terry was a great friend and co-worker. I apologize for not coming in person but came down with COVID. I miss all the lunch time discussions we had about family. He listened to all my family issues and I enjoyed hearing about Cindy, Jon and Sarah. I know he loved you all very much, I am glad he got to retire and spend more time with you all before he passed. I am sure he will be greatly missed.”

“Cindy and family, I am so sorry. He looks so happy in this picture. He had a good life with you. Many hugs to you.”
