Virginia Ann McMahan

Virginia Ann McMahan (nee Shaffer), born on December 24, 1945, in Brazil, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, in Terre Haute, Indiana. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness.

Virginia was a proud high school graduate and dedicated homemaker, cherishing her family above all else. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Stephanie (Elmer) Begley and Angela “Angie” Atkins; her son, Anthony “Tony” Johnson. Virginia’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jonathan Atkins, Rachael Humphrey, Austin Swango, William Gortemiller, Ryan Johnson, and James Atkins, as well as her eight great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Austin McMahan, mother, Rosemary Shaffer, and great-grandchild, Owen Johnson.

A woman of deep faith, Virginia was a devout Christian, often finding solace and inspiration in watching Jimmy Swaggart on Sundays. She spent her free time indulging in her passions-attending auctions, exploring yard sales, and antiquing. These simple pleasures reflected her spirited nature and love for finding beauty in the ordinary.

A graveside for Virginia will be held on Wednesday, January 14th, 2026 at 12:00pm at the Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home (follow the BLUE line) at 11:45am to process over to the gravesite together.
