Virginia Elizabeth Schreiber

october 7, 1926 – january 4, 2026

Virginia Elizabeth Schreiber

On January 4, 2026, the world lost a truly remarkable soul, Virginia Elizabeth Schreiber, at the age of 99. Born on October 7, 1926, in Oak Park, Illinois, Virginia touched the lives of many as a devoted nurse aide and a loving family matriarch. She spent her career caring for the elderly, where her warmth and compassion were evident in everything she did.

Virginia was not just a caregiver but a true nurturer at heart. She was known for her delicious cooking, with cheesecake and her famous Swedish Sloppy Joe being family favorites. Her joyful spirit shined through in her love for crafting, sewing, and bringing laughter to those around her. Virginia had a flair for fashion, particularly when it came to wearing or seeing someone else in stylish hats, and she loved nothing more than a good time, often accompanied by music from Lawrence Welk.

A caring mother and grandmother, Virginia is survived by Fred (son) and Laura Schreiber, Sally (daughter) and Wally Wetterman, Beth (daughter) and Philip Dooloukas, Jack (son) and Patricia Schreiber, and Alice (sister) and Richard Vierus. She also leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Hjalmar and Elizabeth Nelson, her husband, Paul Schreiber, her daughter, Paula Morehart and her siblings, Luverne and Dorothy.

She cherished her family dearly, often taking trips to Connecticut, Illinois, Tennessee, and Georgia to visit relatives, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Virginia had a special affection for Hallmark movies, finding joy and comfort in their heartwarming stories.

In celebration of Virginia’s life, a memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231 (follow the blue line upon entering the memorial park). Visitation will take place at 1:00 PM, followed by the service at 2:00 PM. Virginia’s legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In her honor, let’s gather together to share stories and laughter, recalling the vibrant life of a woman who was truly one of a kind. Virginia will be dearly missed, but her spirit will always be with us, shining brightly like the star she was.
