William Bernard Doran, affectionately known as “Coach” to those whose lives he touched, born on May 19, 1936, gently passed away on July 3, 2024.
Coach Doran proudly served his country as a skilled marksman in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 before dedicating over six decades as a coach in Cincinnati. He shared his passion for sports coaching baseball, basketball, and football, shaping the lives of numerous young individuals through his mentorship and guidance.
Survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Wanda, Coach Doran will be greatly missed by his loving family, including his children Billy (Amanda) Doran, Mike (Carol) Doran, 5 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren, siblings, Ann (Neil) Brubaker, Ted Doran, Hugh (Linda) Doran, Bernadette Vonderheide, David (Polly) Doran, nieces Ann Marie, Allie, Kim, Lesley, nephews Rick, Patrick and Jackson.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents William and Bernadette A. Doran, brother Rich Doran, sisters, Flora Crabrtree, Betty Doran, nephew, David Doran, sister-in-law Dallas Doran.
Celebration of Life services to honor Coach Doran will be announced in the coming days, providing an opportunity for all whose lives were touched by this remarkable man to pay their final respects and celebrate the legacy of a true icon in Cincinnati’s sporting community. The impact of Coach Doran’s teachings and kindness will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate to know him. His memory will live on in the hearts of generations he inspired, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, love, and sportsmanship.
