Elvira Taylor

July 3, 1935 – August 27, 2025

Elvira Taylor

Elvira Taylor, age 90, of Florence, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025. She was born on July 3, 1935, in Fischerdorf, Ukraine, to the late Johhan and Karolina Grün.

Elvira’s life was a remarkable journey. During World War II, she and her family relocated to Eichstätt, Germany. At the age of 16, on June 16, 1952, Elvira, her mother, and her sisters immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island aboard the USS Harry Taylor.

Elvira worked as a caregiver and later as a talented seamstress. She was an active member of the Donauschwaben Society of Cincinnati, where she participated in the traditional German dance group. After marrying, Elvira devoted herself to being a loving homemaker. She took great pride in cooking and baking authentic German cuisine for her family.

Elvira loved reading romance novels, playing cards with friends, and in later years, enjoyed riding around the family farm in a golf cart, fishing, and doting on her beloved dogs and cats with plenty of treats.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johhan and Karolina Grün; her first husband, Oscar Bremer; and her sisters, Inge, Kathi, and Liesel.

Elvira is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Arnold Lee Taylor; her children, Steven Bremer (Susan), Darlene Arney (Tim), Lisa Sonny (Jon), Doug Taylor (Cheryl), and Tammy Parks (Rob); and her cherished grandchildren, Michele, Joshua (Pauline), Kristin (Dustin), and Justin.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Elvira’s life at a visitation on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at The Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home (Follow the BLUE line), with services and burial to follow.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family forever.
