In Loving Memory of Ray Gilbert It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ray Gilbert, who passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the age of 79.
Ray will be remembered for his strength, resilience, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and friends. A United States Army veteran, Ray served his country, including a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1968-1969. The courage, sacrifice, and sense of duty he demonstrated during his service remained a defining part of the man he was throughout his life. Following his military service he worked in construction, sales, and hospitality management.
He had a passion for music, enjoyed sharing stories and laughter, and had a gift for making everyone around him feel welcome. Above all, Ray cherished his family. He shared an especially close and lifelong bond with his sisters—Shirley, Sharon, and Gerri—whose love, laughter, and steadfast support meant the world to him. His life was defined not by the challenges he faced, but by the kindness, humor, and determination with which he lived.
Ray is survived by his son, Joshua Gilbert (Steven Martz), his daughters, Emily Livingston (David Arps) and Glenai Gilbert (Jonathan LaDage), his beloved sisters, Shirley Burroughs (Charlie), Sharon Russo (Frank) and Gerri McAfee (Ron), their extended families and friends who will forever cherish his good humor, kindness and memory.
A visitation and celebration of Ray’s life will be held at Paul R. Young Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 21st from 5 PM to 8 PM with the Celebration of Life starting at 7 PM. Paul R. Young Funeral Home is located at 7345 Hamilton Avenue, Mt. Healthy, OH 45231.
