Obituary via Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home
Terry Lee Garrard, Sr. passed away quietly late in the evening of August 1, 2026 after a three- year battle with cancer. He was devoted to his only son, Terry Lee Garrard, Jr, his daughter-in- law Karen (née Niemel), and his treasured grandson, Christian Woodrow Garrard, who reside in the Walnut Hills neighborhood of Cincinnati. He is also survived by his cousins Janet Reuter and Lois Trapp (née Reuter), both of Fairfield, Ohio, who have been like sisters to him throughout his life. He was preceded in death many years ago by his loving parents, Marvin and Dorothy “Dodie” Garrard (née Wallace).
Terry Sr. was a lifelong resident of Springdale, Ohio, just as his mother had been. He was born April 18, 1947, and he lived nearly his entire life in the same house his parents had bought in 1949. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1965, and he was never without his trademark class ring. Terry Sr. was an avid genealogist and was a proud descendant of German and Irish immigrants to the Cincinnati area, as well as a direct descendant of Governor James Garrard of Kentucky. He was passionate about classic toy trains, his backyard garden, and during the summer months he was a regular at local festivals, fairs, and car shows.
