Marilyn Ruth Schurig

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marilyn Ruth Schurig, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who passed away on August 2, 2026, at the age of 93.

Born on October 11, 1932, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Marilyn graduated from Hughes High School in 1950. In 1955, while working at Kroger, she met her future husband, Cliff. Marilyn lived a vibrant life devoted to her family, friends, faith, and community.

Marilyn is survived by her sons, Timothy Schurig and Michael Schurig; her daughter, Karen Hock (Larry); her cherished grandsons, Eli and Carson Hock, who were the pride and joy of her life; and her sister, Lois Manifold (Dick).

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clifford Schurig, with whom she shared 45 wonderful years of marriage. She also was preceded in death by her parents, George and Clara “Ted” Forbes.

A devoted member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, Marilyn’s faith was evident in the way she lived and cared for others. She had a passion for basket weaving and cooking, and she found great joy in sharing both with family and friends. Neighbors and loved ones knew her door was always open, and many evenings included a few extra place settings around the dinner table for anyone who needed a meal or companionship.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Marilyn’s life at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. A graveside service will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. in the Garden of Restoration.

Marilyn’s warmth, laughter, kindness, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed. Her legacy of faith, generosity, hospitality, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/ or to a charity of your choice in memory of Marilyn’s life.
