Helena Jeannette Gordon

Helena Jeannette Gordon, 90, of Cincinnati, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Sanctuary Pointe Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born October 12, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late James and Pearl (Reed) Ventura.

Helena was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who treasured the people she loved. She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making memories with family and friends that will be cherished for years to come. She loved traveling, particularly vacations to Florida and Las Vegas, and always found joy in the simple pleasures of being surrounded by the people she cared about.

Helena was a longtime member of St. Ann Catholic Church. She was also a proud member of the Mt. Healthy Fraternal Order of Eagles #2193 and Ladies Auxiliary, where she had been a member since 1973. She worked for many years as a legal receptionist at the law firm Kircher & Phelan.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Stephanie A. (Jerry) Brewsaugh and Susan L. Gordon; grandchildren, Nicholas F. Vliege, Justin D. McCurry, Sydney Gordon (Tyler Ponchot), and Gabrielle Cummings; great-grandchildren, Ava Gordon, Meadow Vleige, Grayson Ponchot, Penelope Ponchot, Jack Kist, and Baylee Heid; her sister, Elizabeth Thompson; and twenty nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her former daughter-in-law, Sandy O’Neill and son-in-law Shawn Cummings.

Helena was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, David J. Gordon; her sons, Scott D. Gordon and Stephen M. Gordon; her daughter, Sharon M. Gordon; her parents, James and Pearl Ventura; her sister, Barbara Beck; and her brother, John Ventura.

Helena leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, memories, and family traditions. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 17, 2026, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 2900 W. Galbraith Road, Cincinnati, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens.

“I’m the eldest daughter of Peter and Jo Ventura. Helena was my cousin… she was 5 years younger than my mother. Her parents introduced my parents to one another. I last spoke with her on the phone about 30 years ago. It was a lovely conversation. I’ll keep her and the family in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless, Kathy Ventura”
