A DEATH
HAS OCCURRED
Joanne Elaine Stevens, a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, sister and cherished friend, passed away on October 26, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on May 14, 1950, in Niagara Falls, NY, Joanne dedicated her life to nurturing the minds of young children as a substitute elementary teacher with the Evansville School District.
Joanne was the loving spouse of Franklyn Stevens and an incredibly proud mother to her daughters Lori and Lindsay and her son Michael. She also found immense joy in being a grandmother to Rhys, Caden, and Matthew. Family was everything to Joanne, and she poured her heart into creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Joanne’s spirit thrived in the simple pleasures of life. She loved visiting the beach, traveling with her husband, and had a special hobby of collecting bottles of sand from each sandy spot she explored. Her creative soul found expression in the many collages of artwork she crafted, capturing both her travels and the beauty of her imagination.
In celebrating her vibrant life, the Stevens family invites friends and loved ones to join them for a series of gatherings. On Monday, November 2, 2026, there will be a visitation at 11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 12:00 p.m. at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231 (follow the blue line upon entering the memorial park). The graveside service will take place in the Garden of Meditation.
Though Joanne has left this world, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Let us come together to celebrate her remarkable life, the love she shared, and the memories we will always carry with us.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Eleanor Gully.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Joanne’s life to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/.

“For decades, Jo was a fellow member of our beloved women’s’ writing group, known as Writers’ Bloc. Jo was known for her vibrant collages, beautiful writing, playful spirit & supreme goofiness. She was without a doubt the “Queen of Fun” — dressing up in clever masks & costumes at our parties—— zooming around on her roller blades —- sharing her bounty of snacks & books & art supplies with her “Gal Pal” girlfriends—— such a generous, playful, adventurous spirit. I’m heartbroken to hear she’s passed on , but have no doubt she’ll be the “Life of the Party” at gatherings in Heaven.”
