Obituary via Strawser Funeral Home

Edna was born July 5, 1924 to Joseph and Lyda ( new Miller) Sheppard in Cincinnati, Ohio. Edna entered the Kingdom of Heaven, November 15, 2024 at the age of 100. She grew up with brothers; James Miller and Glen Joseph Sheppard and sister; Irene Elizabeth (Sheppard ) Wallace, whom preceded her. She frequently expressed her longing for their reunion in heaven and being with Jesus.

Edna graduated from the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in 1946. She taught music to children in Ohio for some years and then went to Germany to teacher music to children on U.S. Army based. She has always been devoted to supporting veterans, their families and proud of her brothers who both served in the military.

Upon returning to the United States, she accepted a teaching position in Seattle, Washington. It was here she became a devoted member of the University Presbyterian Church where she was richly blessed with many exceptional, life long friend. Their support and love of Edna and Linda continued beyond the end of her life.

She had wonderful long time friends in her apartment complex.

Through serving in her community, shortly after retirement, Edna met Thuy Huynh and her two sons; Phong and Peter. Peter a young toddler at the time, became a frequent companion of Edna as she provided child care to his hard working mother. They all grew to love became family for one another. Edna was called “Grandma”. Thuy and Peter were some of the last voices which Edna responded just before her death. We thank God for this precious relationship and pray for their re gathering in heaven.

In May, 2021 Edna left her home of 55 years in Seattle. This was an extremely difficult transition for her. With her strength, love and determination we enjoined some precious time with her.

Edna is survived by eight nieces, two nephews, their children and their children’s children.

We give thanks and praise to God for Aunt Ed and our family legacy.

She left knowing she is deeply loved.

Respecting her adamant wishes;

Edna will be buried in Arlington Cemetery; Cincinnati , Ohio.

There will be a brief gravesite prayer and scripture.

Memorials in her honor can be made to:

University Presbyterian Church in Seattle or

Hospice of Southwest Ohio
