Memorial Day officially became a national holiday in 1971, though it was celebrated as early as the 1860s following the Civil War. Field of Memories Flag Dedication
When you choose to dedicate a flag to be displayed in the Field of Memories, you can choose to personalize the dedication, as well. As part of that dedication, you also can designate whether that person is a veteran, active duty military, served in the police, or as a firefighter and whether that person is buried at Arlington. All net proceeds go to Ramp It Up for Veterans, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that builds ramps for those with mobility issues.
