It didn’t take long for Cincinnati’s newest funeral home, The Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, to be recognized as tops in their category. Cincinnati.com awarded the Arlington Funeral Home its designation as Best Funeral Home/Crematory for 2022.

This significant award comes just five short years following the establishment of the Arlington Funeral Home. Located on The Arlington Memorial Gardens grounds, the funeral home received its operating license from the state of Ohio in December 2017. Groundbreaking for the new and contemporarily designed funeral home facility was in October of 2018, and its opening followed in 2020. The Arlington Funeral Home has already served nearly 1,000 families in their time of need.

Dan Applegate, president & CEO of Arlington Memorial Gardens, commented, “The Cincinnati.com award goes a long way in validating our goal to provide the very best funeral care in the Tri-State area, whether that means traditional funeral services or responding to the new services that cremation families are seeking.” Applegate continued, “As a new enterprise, we have looked at funerals and funeral processes with fresh eyes. We’ve studied trends and taken the approach that we will be different from most funeral providers, beginning with the contemporary atmosphere of our facility. By taking that approach, I think the one thing that sets us apart is we are very intentional in looking at every service we provide through the lens of experience. I know that many businesses talk about the experiences they provide, but we truly strive to ‘walk the talk.’”

Like any new “start-up,” the Arlington Funeral Home began with a small staff of two funeral directors and one support person. “Even then,” said Applegate, “Sara Underhill and her small team were providing exceptional service and receiving glowing reviews and referrals. Simply put, Sara is an excellent funeral director with exceptionally empathetic people skills.”

Less than three years since its inception, the funeral home has grown to 5 full-time funeral directors and several additional support team members. Of course, the Arlington Funeral Home is conveniently located on the grounds of Arlington Memorial Gardens and provides cremation services with its on-site crematory. “It’s the combination of these services that enable our organization to emphasize that it’s one place that offers “All you need…in one place.” Applegate concluded that “We’ve known that our growth was due to the service and experiences we were providing, “but receiving public recognition as Cincinnati’s best is absolutely gratifying.”
