Obituary for Arthur Garen Spencer
Arthur Garen Spencer, a beloved father, grandfather, and dedicated educator, passed away on May 19, 2025. Born on April 18, 1959, in Newark, NJ, he lived a life full of adventure, service, and compassion. Residing in Cincinnati, OH, Arthur was a proud U.S. Navy veteran, honorably serving for 21 years as a Hospital Corpsman, instilling a sense of discipline and dedication in all he encountered.
Arthur’s passion for education flourished as a teacher at the Cincinnati Technology Academy, where he was adored by his students and colleagues alike. His ability to connect with young minds made a profound impact on countless lives, and his heart of gold ensured that no one ever felt judged in his presence. His adventurous spirit took him camping and traveling, creating memories that he cherished deeply.
A true sports enthusiast, Arthur was a die-hard fan of the New York Giants and New York Knicks, often seen cheering heartily for his teams. His love for sports extended beyond just watching games; he enjoyed sharing that passion with his children and grandchildren, further fostering family bonds.
Arthur is survived by his daughter, Nicole Cornelius; sons, Garen Spencer, Audbray Spencer, and Adriel Spencer; step-daughter, Cierra Richardson; ten grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Penny, who all carry forward his legacy of kindness and adventure.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary Spencer.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025 from 2:30-4:30pm at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231 (Follow the BLUE Line). Burial will take place at a later date at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
