Barbara Ann West

june 12, 1940 – december 14, 2023

Barbara Ann West

Barbara Ann West, a devoted homemaker known for her love of sweets, passion for crocheting, and deep affection for cats, has sadly passed away on December 14, 2023, in her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. She was 83 years old.

Barbara was born on June 12, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Christopher and Irma Bauerle (nee Spitzmiller) who instilled in her a strong sense of family values. She grew up cherishing her time at Our Lady of Angels, where she graduated with the Class of 1958, applying her warm-hearted nature and determination in all aspects of her life.

As a dedicated homemaker, Barbara found joy in creating a welcoming and loving environment for her family. She adored her daughter Geralynn (deceased), and her son Tom (Tina). Her heart overflowed with pride for her grandchildren: Lauren (Dena), Nathan (Samantha), Meghan (Charlie), and Kristen. Watching them grow brought her immense happiness. Barbara found great delight in the arrival of her great-grandchildren Natalie, Skyelar, Luna, and Harper, who always brought a twinkle to her eyes.

Beyond her role as a homemaker, Barbara found solace in her quiet hobbies like reading her prayer book, listening to Perry Como, and crocheting. She also loved gardening and was able to grow beautiful flowers, and vegetables.

Barbara’s love for cats was another defining aspect of her life. Her feline companion, Sugar, brought her comfort and companionship for many years. Naming the cat after her own sweet tooth was a testament to Barbara’s unique sense of humor and her love for all things sugary.

A homebody at heart, Barbara found contentment in the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was baking batches of cookies, losing herself in her prayer book, or enjoying quiet evenings with her loved ones, she cherished every precious moment.

Tragically, Barbara’s husband passed away before her, leaving her with cherished memories of their 38 years of marriage. They were a steadfast team, weathering life’s storms together and finding joy even in the simplest moments.

Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and unwavering love will forever be etched in the hearts of her family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, 45231 (follow the blue line upon entering the memorial park). Funeral services to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 10:30 AM at the funeral home with burial immediately following in the Garden of Roses.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Barbara’s memory to the local animal shelter, as her love for cats or Ruth Lyons Childrens Fund, PO Box 59, Cincinnati, Ohio 45201.

Barbara Ann West’s legacy of love, warmth, and devotion will forever shine bright in the hearts of those she leaves behind. May she rest in eternal peace.
