Bobby Dixon Spangler, a dedicated husband, father, and papa, passed away on May 28, 2024, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on May 16, 1937, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, Bobby spent his life making meaningful connections and pursuing his passions.
Bobby graduated as the Valedictorian of the Whitesburg High School Class of 1955. He went on to serve in the United States Army.
Bobby was known for his love of fishing and coin collecting, which brought him joy and relaxation throughout his life. As a proud Kentucky Colonel, he carried an air of distinction and honor. His work in the banking industry, notably as a Manager at First National Bank, Finance Manager at Joe Kidd Dodge, and Owner of the Cheviot Trading Company, showcased his dedication and leadership.
An avid Cincinnati Bengals fan, Bobby’s enthusiasm for sports was infectious. He also enjoyed passing down his knowledge and skills, teaching his granddaughters how to play pool.
Throughout his life, Bobby had a passion for cars and he ensured that everyone’s vehicles were running smoothly. His generosity and willingness to help others touched the lives of all who knew him.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Charlotte Spangler, daughter Lisa Spangler, and cherished granddaughters Hannah Torok and Maria Torok.
He was preceded in death by his parents Homer and Gladys (Rudd) Spangler, and sisters, Donna Harrison-Reed and Jean Afdahl.
Memorial contributions in honor of Bobby can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024 from 12:30-1:30pm at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231 (FOLLOW THE BLUE LINE). A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:30pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 2:30pm at the Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231.
