Brenda Von Bargen age 80, a resident of Springdale, Ohio since 1974 passed away on Friday January 27, 2023 in her home. She was born October 15, 1942 in Cottingham, England. Brenda graduated from Matlock College, a teacher’s college, in 1964. She taught four years in England and her friend Gwyn and her decided to do something different. They decided to go to Kenya under the British government and taught five years in a secondary high school. On vacation they traveled to many game parks, waterfalls, and towns in East Africa. She met her husband Dan from Cincinnati who was also teaching there. Flying to the US they got married. She enjoyed traveling and in her earlier years in school she traveled to France, Germany, Yugoslavia, and through Europe. One exciting trip was when six couples who taught in Kenya together and five of the couples met their spouses there. Brenda had the heart of a servant. When her father-in-law died she took care of her mother-in-law Clara for six years until she died. Then her aunt in England, who actually raised her, was sick she flew back and brought her to the US and took care of her for four years until her death. Brenda lived a fulfilling life. She was an amazing wife to Dan and loving mother to her children and grandchildren. She ran the home and Dan’s businesses. She attended Galbraith Road Church of God which became Dayspring Church of God. Some projects she organized at church were backpacks for school children and the Angel Tree Project having the congregation purchase gifts for children. Dan and Brenda were involved with the Mission Field, which began their lives together in Kenya. Back in the states Brenda was still active in the mission program at church. In 1995 the family went on a mission trip to Kenya. They returned to the school compound where Brenda and Dan taught together. They worked on rehabbing some homes for missionaries there. Brenda is survived by here husband Dan Von Bargen; three sons Andrew Von Bargen, Stephen Von Bargen, and Matthew (Heather) Von Bargen; and two grandchildren Colton and Addison Von Bargen. She was preceded in death by her father William Wright, a World War II veteran, and Wyn and Dorothy Wright, aunts who raised her.
