Carol Ann Hayms

June 30, 1942 – may 7, 2025

Carol Ann Hayms

It is with a heavy yet joyous heart that we celebrate the life of Carol Ann (nee Langhorst) Hayms, who left us on May 7, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 30, 1942, to the late Gilbert J and Ruth (nee Wehrung) Longhorst, Carol graced the lives of many with her warmth and laughter.

Married for 63 wonderful years to her beloved Terry Hayms. Their marriage was a testament to true love—and the occasional playful bickering that made their relationship so uniquely theirs. Together they created a loving home for their daughters, the late Jennie Kleimeyer (Bruce) and Jill Dormire (Brett), and their family, which grew to include four wonderful grandchildren: Hannah White (Patrick), Mitch Kleimeyer, Chase Dormire, and Ben Dormire, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Carol leaves behind siblings Jim Langhorst (Donna), Gilbert T Langhorst, Jane Petrey, and Holly Beichel (James). Carol was preceded in death by Thomas Langhorst. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Charles and Diane Herweh, loving nieces and nephews, and many close friends.

Throughout her life, Carol took on many roles—first as a devoted stay-at-home mom, where she was a PTA President and Girl Scout Leader, and a dance mom (before they were called dance moms). After her daughters grew up, she began her work career at Western Bowl, Kroger, and News America Marketing. She could often be found spending her weekends shopping, hunting for treasures at garage sales, or attending the Broadway series with Jennie.

Terry and Carol enjoyed spending time traveling. They loved spending time at the farm in Indiana where they enjoyed the annual flea markets and Muzzle Loader Association barn dances. In Northern Michigan there were many family gatherings including evenings spent around the fire pit on Little Traverse Lake and many fish fries (although Carol would prefer a hot dog over any piece of fish). Carol could also be found relaxing on the pontoon boat on a sunny afternoon. Terry and Carol wintered in Florida for 27 consecutive years after they retired. There were many park activities at the recreation center and poolside and more garage sale adventures.

There will be a celebration of Carol’s life on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Zion Community Methodist Church, 4980 Zion Road, Cleves, OH 45002. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with Service following at 12:00 PM. Family and Friends are invited to join us in the reception hall at 1:00 PM for food and fellowship. Burial will take place at Arlington Memorial Gardens on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 12:00 PM in the Lakeside Mausoleum.

Carol Ann Hayms will forever be missed but never forgotten. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched and in all the joyful memories we will cherish together.

“We will always remember Carol as having something witty and funny to say. She was game for dancing, karaoke, going to garage sales, and always ready for the next adventure every day. Carol was full of wisdom too, I loved hearing her lessons learned through her experiences over the years. We will miss Carol as our neighbor and friend and will keep her in our hearts for years to come.”

“Dear Terry & family Please accept our sincere condolences for the loss of your beautiful wife and mother. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Will always remember what a caring and loving husband you have been Terry, especially when Carol was ill. Rest easy knowing that she was well cared for by you and she always felt your love.”

“Dear Terry. I am so sorry to hear of Carol’s passing. Please accept my deepest sympathy. I remember her kindness to me and yours too in letting me practice at your place for karaoke. I have so many wonderful memories of the two of you in Englewood. I think of those good times so often. Love to you and your family and to Diane and Charlie too. Barb Cameron”

“She will be missed Terri. Thinking of all the good times we had in Florida. Thoughts & prayers to you and your family, especially over the coming days.”
