Carrie Joy Wernimont

Carrie Joy Wernimont, a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025 at the age of 94. Born on March 21, 1931, in Arno, Virginia. She lived a long, full life and will be remembered for her kind heart and boundless generosity.

Carrie’s legacy is the love, kindness, and compassion she gave to everyone. She was a proud mother to seven children- Angela (Ed) Wortman, Yvonne (Tim) Reddy, Christopher Fede, Paul (Leah) Fede, and Teresa (Alexander Doer) Fleming – and two stepsons Eric (Ferda) Wernimont and Chris (Tricia) Wernimont. Carrie’s many grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Carrie is also survived by her loving brother, Robert Bowles, and several nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory. She brought light into the lives of all who knew her, and her legacy of love and joy will endure through her family.

Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, Leon “Pat” Wernimont, parents, Willis and Gertrude Bowles, sons, Anthony and Daniel Fede, grandson, Ben Fleming, sister, Ruth Lemperle, and brother, Jack Bowles.

A woman of many passions, Carrie loved traveling the world, experiencing new cultures and creating lasting memories. She found joy in dance and music, and enjoyed hosting family gatherings. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and laughter. Carrie’s ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued was one of her many gifts; she had a remarkable ability for making every person who entered her home feel special.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6th, 2025 from 10:30-11:30am at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231 (Follow the BLUE line). A funeral service will follow at 11:30am. Family and friends will process to Crown Hill Memorial Park, 11825 Pippin Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45231 for a 12:30pm graveside service.

In this time of sorrow, let us remember Carrie as a woman of boundless love, full of life, whose spirit touched many hearts. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
