A DEATH
HAS OCCURRED
Chris Michael Habig, beloved son of the late Henry Habig Jr. and late LaVerne K. Habig (nee Britz), passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, at the age of 62. He was a devoted husband to Shannon (née Crigler) and a loving father to Christina Habig, William Scott (Amanda) Habig, and Katlyn Habig.
Chris was the cherished brother of Diane (Michael) Haynay, Craig Habig, Mark (Lori) Habig, Duane Habig, Mary (Jim) Mueller, Sue (Jimmy) Sena, Jay Habig, and Angie (Tom) Pope. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and two granddaughters, Emma and Ava.
Chris’s love for his family and friends was unparalleled. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and dedicated his entire life to the hospitality industry, beginning his career as a young boy in his family’s restaurant, Habig’s, in Cincinnati, Ohio. When Chris and his family moved from Ohio to Florida, he joined the La Bamba organization and worked alongside the Molina / Martinez family for 14 years and who he cherished and loved deeply.
Chris was passionate about sports, particularly the Cincinnati Bengals, and enjoyed playing basketball, spending time outdoors in the sun, and fixing anything that needed repair. His friends and family affectionately called him the “Handy Man”.
Despite a long battle with Parkinson’s, Chris remained strong and resilient. He is now watching over his loved ones from above.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Chris’s life on Friday, September 20 @ 11:30 a.m. for burial services at Arlington Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to American Parkinsons Disease Association.

“I’m very sorry to hear about Chris. Coincidentally my brother Christopher Douglas Habig passed away 25 years ago today. I just happened to look up my brothers obit and say that Chris passed. So my brother and I are from Cincinnati and growing up as kids we had the whole Habig family at the restaurant a time or two and everyone knew we were Habigs because we all looked the same. I just wanted to share and again sorry for the loss of Chris.”
