A DEATH
HAS OCCURRED
It is with both heavy hearts and grateful spirits that we celebrate the life of David Mark Flaig Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who passed away on September 14, 2025, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born in Cincinnati on August 25, 1951, Dave lived a life full of joy, laughter, and love that will echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
Dave dedicated much of his life to his role as a driver in the sales industry, with a distinguished career at Frito Lay. However, his true passions extended far beyond his profession. For over 40 years, Dave could be found enjoying the greens, playing golf, or cheering on the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. He loved the thrill of a good tennis match or a good poker game and spent countless hours enjoying time with his family – from unforgettable vacations spanning the East Coast to the West Coast, to skiing and teaching his children the sports he loved.
Married for twenty-five wonderful years to his loving wife, Lynne Flaig, Dave created a home filled with warmth and laughter. His children, David, Melissa (Joe), and Rodney, share memories of family ping pong tournaments, weekends filled with sumptuous meals—especially when Italian was on the menu—and the joy of being coached by Dad in baseball. He cherished his role as a grandfather, attending numerous sporting events to cheer on his grandchildren—Jason (Jaclyn), Alex, Alyssa (Jordan), Arianna (Noah), Makayla, and Ian—and reveling in the delightful chaos brought by his great-grandchildren, Oliver, Hazel, and Scarlet.
Dave’s spirit will live on in the stories shared and the memories created. He will be fondly remembered by his sister, Roe Stark, his stepchildren, Doug, David, and Jason as well as a host of other family members. He will also be remembered during every sporting event and family gathering, ensuring his legacy of love and joy continues for generations.
Join us as we honor Dave’s remarkable life at a memorial service to be held at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Lakeside Mausoleum Chapel on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 10:30 AM. Following the memorial, a nicheside service will take place at 11:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Dave’s life to Queen City Hospice https://queencityhospice.com/donate/.
In true Dave fashion, let us celebrate his life with the same joy, laughter, and camaraderie he cherished so much. We invite all who knew him to join us as we remember the incredible journey of a man who touched our lives in so many beautiful ways.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Anna Flaig (nee Guidugli), his brother, Mark Flaig and his stepdaughter, Sara Riegelsberger.
