Obituary via Evans Funeral Home

Bro. Don D. Stanley, 91, husband of Dorothy M. Stanley, entered into the glorious presence of his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday , January 24, 2024 at Ashton Grove Senior Living, in Georgetown, Kentucky.

Don was born on September 11, 1932 in Allock, Kentucky, son of the late Ruth (Gray) Stanley and adopted father, Robert Lee Stanley. Don’s father, Richard Hogston, had died when Don was only 5 years old. He was affectionately known as “Darlis”, in his younger years by his family.

After he served in the United States Air Force, married and had started to raise his family, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He felt called to full time ministry immediately upon his salvation. He earned a Divinity & Theological degree from Bible Baptist Seminary in Arlington, Texas. Don spent nearly 30 years serving as Pastor at Welcome Baptist Church in Goshen, Ohio. He served there for 26 years and later served another 4 years. In addition to his Pastor duties, he also worked and retired from General Motors Manufacturing / Delco Moraine, Division in Dayton, Ohio.

Much after retirement, he relocated to Georgetown, Kentucky due to health issues. Soon after moving to his Senior Living Facility, he continued to serve the Lord by conducting Chapel Services for the fellow residents (2020- 2022). Sharing biblical truths was his lifelong passion and continued to do so until the time of his passing.

Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 65 years, Dorothy M. (Hughes) Stanley, sons Ricky Stanley, Robert (Maxine) Stanley, and daughter, Tammy (Alan) Bruce. He is further survived by several grandchildren, Scott Frye, Brian Bray, Matthew Bray, Robert “Lee” (Lara) Stanley II, Ryan Lay, Jonathan (Kelli) Stanley, Brandy Stanley, Ashley (John) Jamison, Andrew (Jamie) Lay, Megan (Todd) Muth, and 17 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Stanley, and daughter, Cathy Stanley besides his parents & siblings, Ronnie Stanley, Dana Hogston, and Harlis Hogston.

Visitation Service will be held at Evan’s Funeral Home at 741 Center Street Milford, Ohio on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 9:00 -10:30 AM. Funeral Service will be immediately following (10:30AM) also at Evan’s Funeral Home on Saturday, January 27, 2024 with son, Pastor Rob Stanley (Pleasant Green Baptist Church) officiating along with internment at Arlington Memorial Gardens; 2145 Compton Rd, Cincinnati, OH at 12noon.
